In 2013, scientist Tony Pietrus measures the rate of methane hydrates in the atmosphere. He is looking at the possibilities associated with the next extinction-level event. Shane is an activist attempting to convince battle-hardened Murdock to join her cause. Jackie is a young woman who falls for the charms of a well-known actor, casting aside her inhibitions. Keeper is a down-and-out junkie aimless in life, fixated on his next score. Kate Morris is a fiercely independent feminist and budding revolutionary ready to start a movement that will make a change for the better. Ashir is a brilliant young man who excels in statistical analysis and whose skills are useful to things ranging from gambling odds to climate stats. The aforementioned individuals have a destiny that will unfold around the devolution of the global climate.

The Deluge is a massive tome that transcends the epic storytelling of a novel. Author Stephen Markley (Ohio) has written an engaging multi-perspective character study taking place over three decades and through ever-worsening cataclysms. Each protagonist featured possesses a charismatic streak that makes them sympathetic and interesting, even in the worst circumstances. Markley’s writing is exemplary, his story is breathtaking in its scope and impact.
