The Sevenfold Hunters

Abyan Guled is a member of the Sevenfold, an elite squad of alien hunters training at Carlisle Academy. Her only goal is graduating with first place— but when one of her team members dies, and the grieving team is forced to take on a new recruit, Artemis, the Sevenfold begins to fracture from within. To make matters worse, Carlisle Academy has been hiding something from them, and Abyan intends to figure out what, no matter the cost. Together, the Sevenfold must find a way to uncover Carlisle’s schemes from the inside and get the answers they’ve been seeking, even if it means risking everything.

I liked this book because it had diverse characters and two interesting female leads who were unique and strong, and I connected with them readily! It was fun reading from both the headstrong leader, Abyan, and the newbie, Artemis, who’s scrambling to keep up in a world that’s entirely new to her. I do feel like there were too many characters and not enough development, and I didn’t like that there was not sufficient world-building. Overall, this was okay if you like the boarding school trope. I would recommend this to teens and young adults.
