The Name Game

editor

The Name Game is the story of a girl who is sitting at home, feeling bored. Soon she notices a bird outside her window, and she wants to know all about it. The bird talks to her and tells her things about itself! Based on what the bird says and how it looks, the girl decides to give it a new name. Now she knows how fun this is, and she’s not bored anymore, so she begins finding more things out her window to rename. Other things she sees include a tree, butterfly, and cat that she renames to ones she likes better and ones that the things seem to like better than their original names.

The Name Game is about thinking hard and differently about something to give it a name that no one else has thought of before. I originally thought the story was going to be about the song The Name Game, where you rhyme your name with different words, but I quickly found out that there is another Name Game that seems just as much fun! I liked looking at the pictures because they were colorful and filled the page, and having a cat in the story was a good thing, too.
