Inside the Compost Bin

editor
Composting is becoming more and more popular, but what does that mean to young children? One is never too young to build good habits that will help the world be a better place. This wonderful picture book explains what composting is, how easy it is to do, and how it can make the world a better place, all with the ick factor that will make youngsters even more interested. Melody Sumaoang Plan has written a lyrical text that will carry little ones along the story of a mother and child using a composting bin. Gorgeous illustrations by Rong Pham and Vinh Nguyen will help to introduce young readers to the myriad of insects and organisms that help turn trash into rich soil. It takes a lot of time, but patience is a good lesson for youngsters to learn. In addition, there is plenty of back-matter to give readers a great deal more information. Those pages are really meant for the adults using this book with children. It covers things like why one should compost, how to begin composting, what materials are right for compost and what to avoid, and other essential information. This is a real winner.
